Call for Veteran Families to Apply for Homeownership!

Applications were accepted from veteran families from May 4 – May 18, 2026.

One of our two homes currently being built was hoped to have been a Veterans Build (designated for a veteran family). Applications were able to be submitted online, via mail, or in person at the Chehalem Armory. Proof of military veteran status was required in addition to standard application requirements. Applicants must have lived or worked within our service area for at least one year to qualify.

All submissions must have been completed by the deadline; no late applications were accepted. For more information regarding our unique Habitat homeownership program, click here to visit our Homeownership page with an informational slide deck and instructions on how to apply.

Homeownership Information Session

This event was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 6-7:30pm at the Chehalem Senior Center

Attendees learned about Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program and how to apply.

Applications for two homes were made available at our main office and ReStore, as well as on our website, between March 19-April 2, 2026. Once the application window closed, our Family Selection Committee began performing the screening of applicants, which usually takes 2-3 months, to make a recommendation for selection to the Board of Directors. If/Once the Board approves two families, the selected applicants will be notified.
